DWTD501's Top Ten Albums of 2013

DWTD501's Top 10 Album's of 2013

This is a list of Album's i found truly enjoyable that i listened to many times over the course of having them. Its both Signed and Unsigned bands. Despite me only posting the Unsigned stuff.

#10

Artist: The Bridal Procession
Album: Descent Into Arcologies
Genre: Progressive Deathcore
Label: Siege of Amida Records

Why:

After learning of this band a few years back and finding out this was coming out i was super stoked to hear it. After a few delays on release dates and the fact the band isn't together anymore they finally released it. Its a amazing blend of Blackened Death and Technical Death mixed what is Deathcore. The slew of guests vocalists on this doesn't hurt either. Nick from Molotov Solution and more.

Artist: Hester Prynne
Album: Black Heart Market
Genre: Deathcore
Label: Unsigned

Why:

Hester Prynne is a Deathcore band that is in my Deathcore Classic bands. So after 4 years of nothing and this finally coming out i had a body ready for it. They put a more dark and erie feel to it. Hester is one my old time favorites when Goswell Divorce released. Perfect deathcore release right here. For the straight deathcore.

Artist: Mutiny Within
Album: Synchonicity
Genre: Melodic Metal
Label: Unsigned

Why:

After this band released their first album in 2010. I feel in love with them. Then seeing they disbanded and quit the new album just killed me. and wouldn't you know it they came back to finish what they started. They decided to finish up the album. Its filled with melodies, great shredding and amazing vocals. Clancy is a beast vocalist. Alot of people didn't really like it as much as the first which i agree with but as for a band that disbanded and lost their label and got back together to finish this all by themselves. I have a mad respect for and love for them.

Artist: Dangerkids
Album: Collapse
Genre: Alternative/Nu Metal/Post-Hardcore?
Label: Rise Records

Why:

Honestly not sure how to classify this records. They are like Linkin Park and their Nu Metal but Dangerkids doesn't have rapping so they aren't Nu Metal. Anyway, This album is catchy as hell and its just a great listen. Its a great change from the traditional Post-Hardcore Rise signs. Granted i like the Post-Hardcore genre all together. Its just a great sounding band. If you like Linkin Park another band you might want to try out is Dangerkids.

Artist: Bring Me the Horizon
Album: Sempiternal
Genre: Progressive Metalcore
Label: Epitaph Records

Why:

Bring Me the Horizon has changed so much since their Deathcore days. This album is a perfect example of their sound changing. Its different from their last release for sure. I'm a huge fan of BMTH since i first heard Raawwwr. BMTH has grown exponentially throughout the years and its just awesome to hear it. This album has alot of different elements i can't even figure out what the fucking genre would be lol. I just labeled it as Progressive.

Artist: Shadow of the Colossus
Album: End Game
Genre: Melodic Deathcore
Label: Unsigned

Why:

After about 5 years of nothing from this band new stuff wasn't looking good. Eventually they released this monster which at first i was excited but actually listening to it... My mind was blown. They changed alot! Their first release was just straight heavy deathcore. This new release the vocalist had more ranges and they got more melodic.

#4

Artist: Killswitch Engage
Album: Disarm the Descent
Genre: Metalcore
Label: Roadrunner Records

Why:

Personally my first listen to KSE was Howards stuff. I liked both vocalists but i was more Howard. After hearing this though. Its a great comeback record. Lose a great vocalist and get the old one... Worked in this bands favor. When i first got this album on my iPod it was on repeat for weeks. Jesse bro, if you read this... You done good.

#3

Artist: A Day to Remember
Album: Common Courtesy
Genre: Pop Punk
Label: Unsigned

Why:

Well i'm sure alot of people loved this album and hated this one. After all this bands been through though we can at least admire that they will still go on and that they still have the huge ass following they have. Personally im a huge fan of ADTR. Homesick always has a place in my heart. This new album is super catchy i mean you won't be able to get the lyrics out of your head even if you wanted to. ADTR has secured it place in this industry again with this record.

#2

Artist: Of Glaciers
Album: Heart Museum
Genre: Melodic Hardcore
Label: Unsigned

Why:

This is... album right here... makes me sad and happy. Happy because i mean wow. This album is perfect. Lyricism in melo hardcore is one of the main reasons i love melo hardcore. No genre does more meaningful and heartfelt lyrics. Its also sad because the band literally quit a few months after its release... Well.. At least they went out with a bang... And a bang it fucking is.

Artist: Shaded Enmity
Album: Forsaken and Forgotten
Genre: Melodic Death Metal
Label: Unsigned

Why:

This is an absolute monster!! The melodic riffs and vocals are just something that will give you chills up your dam spine. Its absolutely fucking perfect. Its so good i bought it myself even after having a great quality on my iPod. I'm even buying it again. I want this monstrosity in physical form. Ill show my kids in the future and be like "boy this is what you daddy used to jam." Id probably melt his dam brain hahah. But seriously if you call yourself a metalhead and haven't heard this album yet... YOU MUST FUCKING LISTEN TO IT!!!
